Helen M. Fox
1931 - 2013 ADAMS Helen M. (Oparowski) Fox, 81, of 260 Lenox Heights, Lenox, a former longtime resident of Pittsfield, died Monday evening, Aug. 12, 2013, at Providence Care Center in Lenox.
She was born in Adams on Sept. 21, 1931, a daughter of Tytus and Mary (Kogut) Oparowski, and attended Adams schools.
Mrs. Fox last worked in the kitchen of Adrien's Diner in Pittsfield, where she specialized in preparing Polish foods while working closely with her grandchildren, Tammy and Bill McGovern and Tricia Chalifoux and her fiance, John Wilson, who operate the diner. Earlier, she had worked at Stop & Shop and Eaton Paper Co.
She had been a communicant of the former Holy Family Church in Pittsfield. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and Bingo, and taking trips to the casinos.
Her husband, Robert J. Fox, died February of 1994.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Fox and his wife, Mary, of Adams; two daughters, Sandra Bateman and her former husband, Anthony Bateman, of Pittsfield, and Susan Fawcett and her husband, David, of Cleethorpes, England; three brothers, Frank Oparowski of Oregon, and Matthew and Theodore Oparowski, both of Adams; a sister, Cecelia Laston of Lenox; nine grandchildren, Tammy McGovern, Tricia Chalifoux, Jason Haskins, Anthony Bateman, Jr., Desiree Addy, Nicole Bateman, and Vicki, Emma, and James Fawcett; four great-grandchildren, Averie McGovern, Benjamin Addy, Jr., and Bailey and Destiny Fawcett, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, John, Casimer, Peter, Stanley, Walter and Joseph Oparowski, and by her sisters Emily Oparowski, Anna Keeler and Sophie Rusek.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be Thursday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12 Noon in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parish of Blessed John Paul, Adams. Burial will be held at a later date. Calling hours are today, Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
