Henry G. "Hank" Goetsch

1924-2012 WILLIAMSTOWN Henry G. "Hank" Goetsch, 88, of 29 Thistle Path, died Sunday September 30, 2012 at the Williamstown Commons.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 5, 1924 a son of the late Henry and Edith (Jahn) Goetsch. He graduated from Custer High School and also graduated with a law degree from the University of Wisconsin. Hank was a decorated veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army Medical Corp. He was employed at the Sprague Electric Co. of Wisconsin and then transferred to the Sprague Electric headquarters in North Adams where he served as the corporate manger of security for many years. He was last employed part-time in the Business Department at North Adams State College as an instructor.

He was a long time member of the First Congregational Church of North Adams and was a loyal member of the Williamstown Lions Club where he served as past president and held all officers with in the club. In 2000 Hank was awarded with the Melvin Jones Fellowship for his Humanity Service the highest honor given by Lions Club International.

Survivors include his wife Ruth (Bachhelm) Goetsch whom he married December 28, 1946 in Springfield, Ill; one daughter, Caryl Johnson of Needham, Mass.; and two sons, H. Edward Goetsch of Tolland, Conn. and David Goetsch of Stafford, Conn; four grandchildren; and one brother, John Goetsch, of New Jersey.

He was predeceased by a brother James Goetsch who died in 2008.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Henry G. Goetsch will take place Thursday at 1 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of North Adams. Private Burial will take in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.
