1929-2013 CHESHIRE Jadwiga Jayko, 82, of 1051 Wells Road in Cheshire died Friday at North Adams Commons where she had resided for the past few days.
Born on March 8, 1929 in Pittsfield, she was a daughter of the late Kazimirz and Mary Dubiski Lysonski. A resident of Cheshire since 1949, she was educated in Pittsfield schools. She married her husband, the late Stephen A. Jayko on April 30, 1949. He died on April 16, 1989.
A homemaker, she had worked at one time at the former Eaton Paper in her younger years. She had also worked as a census worker for a few years in the 1990's. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire and a member of the Cheshire Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, baking, needlework and raising her family.
She leaves her daughter; Patricia A. Jayko of Cheshire. Nine sons; James M. Jayko and his wife Jennifer of Williamstown, Stephen A. Jayko Jr. of Robe, Missouri, John C. Jayko and his wife Jamie of Saratoga Springs, NY, Stanley E. Jayko and his companion Jenne of Bakersfield, CA, Theodore F. Jayko and his significant other, Renee, of Cheshire, William D. Jayko of Adams, Albert L. Jayko of Bakersfield, CA, Daniel W. Jayko and his wife Candace of Chicopee, MA and Richard J. Jayko of Cheshire. Four sisters; Helen Kendra of Feeding Hills, MA, Wanda Rock and Dorothy Koppen both of the State of Florida, and Jenny Lane of San Jose, CA. Fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by an infant daughter and by three brothers; John, Savery and Joseph Lysonski and by three sisters; Blanche Gero, Betty Radke and Monja Daverin.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Jadwiga Jayko, 82, of Cheshire who died February 22, 2013 will be held Thursday at 9:15 AM from the DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. Burial will be in the spring in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dery-Cheshire Funeral Home. Memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Jayko may be made to UCP of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, North State Rd. Cheshire, MA 01225.
