Joan Durocher

1923 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Joan (Bryce) Durocher, 90, of 85 Eagle St., died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Williamstown Commons. She was born in Adams on Dec. 22, 1923, a daughter of John and Agnes (Jardine) Bryce. She graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1941. She was employed in the accounting department at the Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for 45 years. Preceding retirement, her position was that of financial analyst in that department. She was a longtime active member of the First Congregational Church of North Adams where she sang in the choir for many years and belonged to the Women's Fellowship. She was a member of The Adams Study Club. She was a longtime member of the Naomi Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star where she held the position of Grand Chaplain and Deputy Grand Matron. She was also a member of Daughter of Scotia. Joan enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, bowling, and golfing at the Stamford Country Club. Her husband, Vernon Durocher whom she married May 12, 1956, died July 6, 1990. Survivors include several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased three sisters, Margaret Kosche, Katherine Hegarty and Lillian Sherman and by one brother, John Bryce. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Funeral Service to celebrate the Life of Joan Durocher will take place Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
