John F. McClure
1929 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Mr. John F. McClure, 84, of 30 Willard Place, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 6, 1929, the son of John and Nora Hughes McClure, he was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph High School and also attended the Commercial Trade Institute of Chicago. Mr. McClure worked as a carpenter for 28 years for General Electric and later, General Dynamics. He also worked for many local contractors. He was a member of the National Guard, Yankee Division, 101st Infantry for 16 years. John also belonged to the Dalton American Legion, and was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Berkshire Coin Club. Mr. McClure is survived by two brothers, Thomas J. McClure of Canton, Conn. and James J. McClure of Dalton; three sisters, Mary Eileen Miraglia of Pittsfield, Patricia Hudelston of Bradenton, Fla., and Nora Quadrozzi of Pittsfield, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dog and faithful hunting companion, Heidi. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Mr. John F. McClure will be Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. from the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday morning prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home in his memory.
