Joseph Edward Sebastino 67, of Pownal, Vt., died January 30,2013 at Baystate Medical Center surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with heart disease.

He was born in Williamstown on March 19, 1945 son of the late Edith (Bushee) Sebastino and in 1948 was adopted by Anthony Sebastino. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the United States Marine Corp.

Joseph was a chef his whole life working at The Springs Restaurant, Williams Inn, Lenox House and the Le Country Restaurant and was chef and partner of the former River House. He later was the food service director at Southern Vermont College and last employed as food service director at the Williamstown Elementary School. He enjoyed his time at Lake St. Catherine and spending time with his family and devoted dog Scruffy.

Survivors include his wife who was the love of his life, Carol (Rivard) Sebastino whom he married June 24, 1979. He leaves four loving children, Lisa (Pedercini) Wilcox and her husband Robert of Pownal, Vt. Debbie (Pedercini) Niles and her husband Gary of Shaftsbury, Vt. Craig Pedercini and his wife Karen of Williamstown and Keith Pedercini and his wife Jeanne of Pownal, Vt. Three loving grandchildren, Jonathan Wilcox, Caleb Pedercini and Nicole Pedercini.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Joseph Sebastino will take place Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams,MA. Burial with full military honors will follow in Parklawn Cemetery, Bennington, VT. Calling Hours at the funeral home are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
