Kathleen Birrell Utley

Kathleen Birrell Utley, 38, of Richmond, Va., died suddenly at VCU Medical Center, in Richmond, Va., on November 17, 2012. She is survived by her husband Stephen Patrick Utley and two young sons, Chase Reynolds Utley and Stephen Paul Utley; her sisters Rebecca Birrell Smith of Brunswick, Maine and Stephanie Birrell Luedke of Ridgefield, Conn.; and her parents Stephen and Polly Birrell of Williamstown.

Kate was a 1992 graduate of Deerfield Academy and a 1996 graduate of Williams College, where she majored in Art History and was co-captain of the women's basketball team. After several years in marketing positions in the ski industry in Colorado, Kate relocated to Richmond where she was employed by Trilegiant in client services. Leaving to pursue her passion for art, she was employed by John Barber Art and served as a marketing consultant to local artists. More recently, she was a realtor with Long and Foster in Richmond.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 6000 Grove Avenue, Richmond, VA at 1 p.m. on Saturday December 1, 2012. Private interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, Silver Springs, MD.
