Leno W. Bernoi

1935 - 2014 NORTH CANAAN, CT. Leno W. Bernoi, 78, of 29 Foote Ave. died Thursday morning at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, Mass. after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Betty (Baldwin) Bernoi. Leno was born Nov. 12, 1935 in Sheffield, Mass., son of the late Leno Domenic and Leona (Klan) Bernoi. Leno graduated from the last graduating class of the former Sheffield High School. Leno worked for 40 years as an oil delivery-man for the Charles W. Agar Company in Great Barrington. While working at the Agar Company Leno started his own grass mowing business as Leno's Lawn Service. He, along with his son Greg, ran the business for 20 years and Greg continues the business today. He was an active member of the Canaan Methodist Church in Canaan, Conn. Leno enjoyed bowling for many years at the Cove in Great Barrington, Mass. He and his wife Betty volunteered every summer in Cooperstown, N.Y., assisting with the activities associated with Hall of Fame Induction Week Ceremonies. Leno's greatest enjoyment came from going to Lake George. He would travel there two to three times during the summer for over 40 years. He also enjoyed a round of golf, and rooting for the Red Sox's. In addition to his wife, Leno is survived by his two children: daughter, Melody Dean and her husband, Stephen of Falls Village, Conn., son, Greg L. Bernoi and his girlfriend, Laura Alexander of East Canaan, Conn., three brothers; Frank Bernoi of Fla. and Ronald and James Bernoi both of Great Barrington, Mass., his sister, Mary Pelltier of Washington, Mass., His two grandsons: Tyler Dean and his girlfriend, Candace Brown, and Justin Dean both of Falls Village, Conn. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services will be held on Monday Aug. 25, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Canaan United Methodist Church 2 Church St, Canaan, CT 06018. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery East Canaan, CT 06024. Calling hours will be held at the NEWKIRK-PALMER FUNERAL HOME 118 Main St. North Canaan, CT 06018 on Sunday from 4 - 6 p.m. Memorial donations may be sent to the Canaan United Methodist Church, 2 Church St. Canaan, CT 06018
