1927 - 2014 HOUSATONIC Leonce "Lee" Roger Jr. 86, died Thursday Aug. 7, 2014 at Laurel Lake Nursing Home in Lee. Leonce was born in Housatonic on Aug. 27, 1927 son to Leonce A. and Louise Olivier Roger. He attended the former Searles High School and enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II serving in the Pacific. After the war Leonce worked for First National Stores as a produce manager, meat manager and then a supervisor for many of the stores. In 1972, he purchased the Barrington Food Center and ran it until he sold it in 1978. Leonce then went into real estate where he sold and built homes and did consulting. His wife of over 50 years, Joan Roger predeceased him on Oct. 19, 2007. Leonce is survived by two sons, Leonce Roger III and his wife, Gail Roger and Frank Roger; one grandson, Travis Roger; one granddaughter, Jennilyn Roger; two great-grandchildren, Adlysn and Arianna; one sister, Louise Piontek; and longtime friend and caregiver, Gabriela Salazar. In keeping with Leonce's wishes there will be no calling hours and burial with Military Honors will be private.
