Margaret L. Munson
1934 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Margaret L. Munson, 78, of 176 Maple Grove Drive, a lifelong resident, died Tuesday, May 16, 2013, at Hillcrest Commons.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 10, 1934, the daughter of Leon and Margaret Stanton Navin, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1952 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was also a 1955 graduate of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Munson was employed as a registered nurse for many years at the former St. Luke's Hospital and Berkshire Medical Center, and was a private duty nurse for the Crane Family of Dalton.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Mrs. Munson loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy. She also enjoyed traveling.
She leaves her husband, George L. Munson, whom she married June 30, 1956, at St. Joseph's Church in Pittsfield.
Mrs. Munson is also survived by four sons, Gary P. Munson and his wife, Diane, of Cheshire, Stephen G. Munson and his wife, Cheri, of Zeeland, Mich., David M. Munson of Stephentown, N.Y., and Christopher S. Munson and his wife, Kandy, of Pittsfield; a daughter, Kathleen M. Speth and her husband, Daniel, of Cheshire; a brother, John P. Navin and his wife, Esther, of Boca Raton, Fla.; nine grandchildren, David M. Munson, Jr., Gary P. Munson, Jr., Courtney Munson, Alyssa Munson, Christopher S. Munson, Jr., Alexis Brooke Munson, William J. Huxtable, Christopher M. Huxtable, and Michael Londergan; and two great-grandchildren, Bellah Munson and Kaleb Munson.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Margaret L. Munson will be Tuesday, May 21, at 10:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dery Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
