LANESBORO Margaret Stearns, 62, of 490 South Main St. in Lanesboro passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at Springside of Pittsfield.
Margaret was born in Springfield, Mass., daughter of Hilda Frederick-Rayome and Leon Rayome, Sr.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Stearns, whom she married on Aug. 21, 1972, and her brother Timothy Rayome.
Survivors include her daughters, Petty Church of Connecticut and Victoria Ford of Springfield; grandchildren, Abigail and Alexander Church; and her two brothers, Leon Rayome, Jr. of Pittsfield and Emmit Rayome of Springfield, as well as nieces and nephews.
Since 2000, Margaret attended the Adult Day Health Program located on Bradford St. where she made many friends. She enjoyed socializing as well as participating in many activities. Margaret was especially proud of her Human Rights Advocacy role, being an active member while attending BFAIR, and recently completed a series of Advocacy training which was held at BCC. Margaret joined BCARC in January, 2012 and settled into her home in Lanesboro. She made many friends while there and was a support to her housemates who will miss her dearly. During this year she was able to enjoy a vacation in Cape Cod which allowed her to see the ocean for the first time.
Margaret leaves many friends and acquaintances whose lives she enriched by her very presence. She will be missed by all.
MEMORIAL NOTICE: A ceremony celebrating Margaret's life will be held on Monday, Jan. 14, beginning at 11:30 a.m in the hall at St. Stephen's Church, Pittsfield.
