Mary C. Butterworth

1920 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Mary C. (Maffuccio) Butterworth, 93, of Pittsfield, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at home, surrounded in the presence of her loving family.

She was born in Monteforte, Province of Salerno, Italy, on March 5, 1920, a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Carmella (Mondeli) Maffuccio. She came to the United States as an infant and attended Pittsfield schools.

She was primarily a homemaker. She had been a communicant of the former St. Mary's Church and a member of the St. Mary's Family Society. She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family.

Her husband, Clarence J. Butterworth, whom she married Aug. 1, 1949, died May 28, 2008.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Andrews of Pittsfield, with whom she made her home; three sons, Edward Butterworth and his wife, Linda Sue, of Kingsville, Texas, Charles Butterworth and his wife, Audrey of Massachusetts, and Richard Butterworth and his wife, Lisa, of Roanoke, Va.; one brother, Daniel Maffuccio of Ancora, Wash.; six grandchildren, David, Lisa, Heather, Amy, Alysa, and Jennifer, and five great-grandchildren, Julie, Timmy, Ally, Gavin and K.C.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Frank, Ralph and Dominic Maffuccio and by three sisters, America Reynolds, Lucy Mazzeo and Irene Kimber.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will take place Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 8:15 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. Mark's Church with the Rev. John C. Salatino, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
