Mary J. "Dolly" D'Amore
1923-2013 PITTSFIELD Mrs. Mary J. "Dolly" D'Amore, 90, of 49 Newell St., Pittsfield died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Berkshire Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Pittsfield on January 7, 1923, a daughter of the late Francesco and Elizabeth (Salvaggio) Ruperto. She attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1940. She was employed at the former Sheaffer-Eaton for 23 years and retired in 1985. After retirement she worked at the former Vicki's Dress Shop on North Street in Pittsfield.
She had been a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and a member of its Ladies Guild and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, crafts, playing the piano and spending time with her family.
She was the widow of Nello D'Amore who died on June 23, 1997. They were married on September 3, 1945.
Survivors include one son, Michael D'Amore and Helene D'Amore of Pittsfield; two daughters, Maryann Welch and her husband, Richard, of Pittsfield and Nancy Battaini and her husband, Aldo, of Pittsfield; one sister, Frances Fazio of Pittsfield. She also leaves nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Victoria "Vicki" Belcher.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 9 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker C.S.S. officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, March 19, from 4 to 6 p.m.
