Michael C. Baccoli
1930 - 2013 LEE Michael Constante Baccoli, 82, of East Center Street in Lee, passed away at BMC on Friday, February 1st, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Sept. 6, 1930 in Pittsfield, son of Frank and Letizia Pasini Baccoli. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Parochial School and a 1949 graduate of Lee High School. He then served in the Army
from 1949 to 1953 during the Korean War
, 9th Infantry Division, achieving the rank of Corporal. Following his military service, Michael worked as a deli manager at various local supermarkets, retiring from the Big Y, Great Barrington, MA, in the late 1990s.
Michael was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, where he served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and a faithful member of the Adoration Society. He was also a member of the G. Marconi Lodge #1620 Sons of Italy in Lee; the Pittsfield VFW
Post #448; the American Legion Post #0068 of Pittsfield; and the Berkshire Hills Council #314, Knights of Columbus of Lee. His hobbies included vegetable gardening, fishing, and going to the casinos with his wife, Mary. He also enjoyed taking occasional trips to Italy to visit his relatives. His joy in life was spending quality time with his family.
He leaves his wife, the former Mary R. Contenta, whom he married on September 18, 1954; his three sons, Michael J. Baccoli and his wife Holly of Lee, Francis P. Baccoli and his wife Kimberlee of Greenfield Center, NY, and Matthew J. Baccoli and his wife Katie of Apple Valley, MN; two daughters, Paula M. Valenti and her husband Dan of Stockbridge, MA and Letitia A. LePrevost and her husband John of Lee; one sister, Mary L. Masiero and her husband Val of Lee; a sister-in-law, Hilary Walker of Lee, and 10 grandchildren: Cara, Kaitlyn, Chantal, Nicole, Andrew, Alexander, Emily, Jennifer, Matthew, and Michael and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Angela, and a brother, Italo.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Michael Baccoli will be held at 9:15 am on Thursday, February 7th from the KELLY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian burial at 10 am at St. Mary's Church in Lee with the Rev. John K. Sheaffer, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, February 6, from 4-7 pm at the Kelly Funeral Home.
