Norman E. Crocker

1929-2013 Mr. Norman E. Crocker, 84, of 867 West Housatonic St., passed away peacefully Monday evening, according to his wishes, at his home, surrounded by his Loving family. Born in Pittsfield on March 17, 1929 the son of George and Alice Boyer Crocker, he was a 1947 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Mr. Crocker and his wife Dolores owned and operated Norm's Variety on West Housatonic St. from 1971 until 1985. He had previously worked for Hathaway Bakery and the Coca-Cola Company. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting in his younger years as well as bowling on Wednesday night league at Imperial Bowl. He participated in bell ringing for the Salvation Army for many years and enjoyed the company of his nephew Jeff Crocker. He was and offertory collector at St Marks Church. Norman was predeceased by his wife, the former Dolores Milne, who died on April 22, 2003. He is survived by his children, Gary Crocker and his wife Wilberta of Stafford, VA, Michele Clark and her husband Barry of Pittsfield, Nancy Abriel and Maverick Abriel, Norma Kirby and her husband James, Douglas Crocker and his wife Lisa and David Crocker and his wife Laurie all of Pittsfield; brothers, Donald Crocker and his wife Jean of Pittsfield and Raymond Crocker and his wife Rita of Pittsfield and the joys of his life, his 17 grandchildren, Laurie Brindle and her husband Paul, Aimee Crocker and best friend Brian Ackley, Robert Beuth and his wife Megan, Michael Beuth and his fiancee Lindsay, Julie Beuth, Ryan Melle, Jodi Melle, Elizabeth Kirby, Colleen Kirby, Andrea Kirby, James Stephen Kirby, Averie Crocker, Kyle Crocker, Lauren Crocker, Timothy Crocker, Tyler Crocker and Tierney Crocker; 3 great grandchildren, Nicole and Nicholas Brindle and Cassius Moody. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Crocker. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services for Mr. Norman Crocker will be Friday November 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA 01201 with the Rev. John Salatino, pastor of St. Mark Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, November 14, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or to Saint Mark Food Pantry, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home in his memory.
