Patrick Brendan Collins

1938 - 2013 PITTSFIELD Pat Collins of Pontoosuc Lake, died Friday night, May 3, 2013, as the result of a heart attack.

Born April 27, 1938, to Maurice and Mary O'Sullivan Collins in New Haven, Conn., Pat went to St. Francis School of Fair Haven and Notre Dame High School of Connecticut, before receiving his bachelor's degree from Boston College and his MBA from the University of Massachusetts.

He worked for most of his adult career at the Ordnance Division of General Electric/Martin/Lockheed/General Dynamics of Pittsfield.

In New Haven, he met Albertus student Marion "Mamie" Hunt who became his wife of 50 years and with whom they made their family with children Agnes, Brian, Kevin, Patrick and Maurice and their spouses Roy, Sara, Carrie, Lynn and Michele. Pat's grandchildren are Thor, Paddy, Fiona, Brendan, Aidan, Maeve, Olivia, Gabrielle, Siobhan, and Grace.

Pat served as President of the CYC, where he was volunteer of the year in 1981-82, The Berkshire Parochial School Association and was a volunteer Downeyside of Berkshire County. He was most recently a volunteer at the St. Joseph's food pantry.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Pat Collins will be Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at 9 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., Pittsfield MA 01201 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor, and concelebrated by Rev. Geoffrey Deeker, CSS Priest in Residence. Burial will at the convenience of the family, at a later date.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, May 7, 2013, from 4 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the Collins family has asked that people support one of Pat's favorite charities; UNICEF, The Jimmy Fund, St. Francis School of Fair Haven, CT, and the St. Joseph's Food Pantry.
