Raymond F. Babeu

1931 - 2014 NORTH ADAMS Raymond Francis Babeu, 83 of San Tan Valley, Ariz., went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 3, 2014. Raymond died peacefully in the comfort of his home, surrounded by members of his loving family and friends in Christ. Born in North Adams on March 21, 1931, son of George Louis and Theresa (DeMarco) Babeu, Raymond graduated from Drury High School and was a member of the Berkshire Rangers Drum and Bugle Corp. Raymond served honorably in the US Army from 1951-1954 during the Korean War, and deployed to Korea and Japan. He was promoted to the rank of SSG E-6, where he worked as an electrical lineman and also supervised the BN Honor Guard Drill Team. He later worked and retired from the Massachusetts Electric Company after 40 years. Raymond would later devote his life to the ministry as an ordained Christian Minister. Ray and his loving wife, Helen, pastored the Word of Life Church in Pittsfield. He hosted a cable TV ministry titled "God's Masterpiece" where he interviewed guests sharing their testimony, biblical teachings as well as music ministers. Raymond now joins his loving bride Helen in eternal life after 58 years of marriage. Ray and Helen were joined in marriage on Jan. 14, 1956. They raised 11 children, Peter Babeu and wife Julie of Colorado, George Babeu and wife, Kathleen of Maine, John Babeu and Hillary Gentile of Connecticut, Mary Babeu of Arizona, Theresa LaCroix and husband, Eric of North Adams, Lucy Babeu of North Adams, Joseph Babeu and Paul Garcia of California, Francis Babeu and wife, Kim of Texas, Veronica Keating of Arizona, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu, and Justice of the Peace Shaun Babeu and wife, Brandy of Arizona; 28 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He leaves his loving sister, Florence Gimlewicz and husband, Joseph of Pittsfield, and in-laws, Rodney and Eileen Prevey and Dorothy Babeu of North Adams. Raymond was predeceased by his loving wife, Helen Veronica (Reardon) Babeu; his sister, Constance Oliver of Melbourne, Fla.; brother, Louis Babeu of North Adams; sister, Regina Rose Babeu and granddaughter Samantha Babeu of Texas. FUNERAL NOTICE: Viewing and funeral services for Raymond Babeu will be held in the Chapel at the Mountain View Funeral Home & Cemetery, 7900 East Main Street, Mesa, Ariz. Viewing 9 to 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, followed by funeral services at 10 and burial at Mountain View Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to Mountain View Cemetery and Funeral Home.
