Richard Vincent Geib

1950-2012Highly Decorated Vietnam War Veteran

Richard Vincent Geib 62, of 368 Houghton St. North Adams, Ma. died Sunday December 30, 2012 at his home.

He was born in Hagaman, N.Y. on March 21, 1950 a son of the late Francis and Iola (Machand) Geib. He graduated from Amsterdam High School. Richard served two tours of duty with the U.S. Marine Corp as a private during the Vietnam War. He was decorated with the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with bronze star and two Purple Hearts with gold stars. He was employed for several years at the Clean Harbors Co. in Albany, N.Y.

Survivors include his wife Angela (Taft) Geib whom he married July 3, 2008 in North Adams. One son Richard Murphy of Cheshire, Mass. Two grandchildren Lita and Ariel Murphy. Two sisters Theresa Phaneuf and her husband Robert and Dorothy Greenlaw both of North Adams. Several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by a brother Peter Geib who died in 1979.
