Robert Daniel Michael

1941 - 2014 ADAMS Robert Daniel Michael, 73, of 17 Hathaway St., died on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Duluth, Minn., on Jan. 25, 1941, a son of the late Lambert and Marie (Weitzel) Michael. He attended schools in Minnesota. Mr. Michael was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served from 1959 until receiving his honorable discharge in 1962. Mr. Michael worked in the Power Transformer Division of General Electric Co., Pittsfield, until retiring after 26 years of service. He had also worked for the former North Adams Regional Hospital, Sprague Electric Co., and W.R. Grace, Adams. He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul, II. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding four wheelers with his son and grandsons, working on cars and traveling, especially to Tampa to visit his son. He loved spending time with his family and most of all his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Shirley M. Dimitropolis, whom he married on Aug. 3, 1963; one son, Robert J. Michael and his wife, Clara of Tampa, Fla.; three daughters, Annette Michael and her significant other, Frank Ostrander of Lanesborough, and Cynthia Michael and Barbara Varno, both of Adams; two brothers, Gerald Michael and his wife, Raz, of Taylor, Mich., and Daniel Michael of Duluth, Minn.; three sisters, Rosemary Michael of Maryhurst, Ore., Anna Mae Vercelline of Anchorage, Alaska, and Katherine Cooper and her husband Daniel of Duluth, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Corey, Tiffany, Robert, Jacob, Casey, Josh, Alex and Anthony; two great-grandchildren, Olivyia Madison and Colby, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Leo, Al, Joseph and Lambert Michael, Jr. and by one sister, Delores Tropiano. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be on Monday, July 21, at 9 a.m. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. John Paul, II at Notre Dame des Sept Deloures, celebrated by the Rev. Tomasz Gorny. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
