Rose M. Furci
1927 - 2012 PITTSFIELD Mrs. Rose M. (Mazzacco) Furci, 85, of 44 Alden Ave., Pittsfield, passed away peacefully at Berkshire Medical Center on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012. She was very devoted to her family and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was born in Pittsfield, Feb. 18, 1927, daughter of Chiarina (Taglieri) and Concetto Mazzacco. She graduated from Pittsfield High School, Class of 1944. She worked as a secretary at General Electric Company for 12 years. She later worked for several stores, the last being as a cashier at Grand Union Supermarket until they closed in 1977.
She was predeceased by her sister, Ann Albano, in 2005 and her stepmother, Rose (DiTomasso) Mazzacco, in 1998.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Obaldo (Al) P. Furci. They were married in the former Mt. Carmel Church in Pittsfield on June 28, 1947. They enjoyed playing cards together and with their many friends on weekends. Her other survivors are her daughter, Paula M. Dillon and her husband, Patrick; her son, Daniel and his wife Terry; grandsons and granddaughter, Kegan Dillon and Derek Furci and his twin sister, Maria Furci; one grandson, Conor Dillon, passed away in the year 2000 at 18 years old. She is also survived by her sister, Julia Arace, and her husband, Andrew; her brother, Nicholas Mazzacco and his wife, Mary Grace and her brother Peter Mazzacco and his wife Barbara; her two aunts, Delfina DiTomasso and Mary DiTomasso and uncle, Peter DiTomasso, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was a past commandant of the local Marine Corps League Ladies' Auxiliary. She was a kidney dialysis patient for almost 14 years.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Rose M. Furci will be Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor, officiating. Entombment will take place at St. Michael the Archangel Chapel Mausoleum on the grounds of St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, will be Wednesday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
