Roswell Edward Wheeler
1927-2012 HINSDALE Roswell Edward Wheeler, 85, of 235 Maple Street, Hinsdale, died Thursday, December 27, 2012, at Craneville Place of Dalton.
Born in Pittsfield on July 6, 1927, a son of Roswell E. and Delia P. Harrington Wheeler, he was educated in Hinsdale schools.
Mr. Wheeler was employed by Byron-Weston Mill as a machine operator for 16 years. Prior to that, he was a landscaper for many years.
He enjoyed golfing and bowling, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Wheeler leaves his wife, the former Pauline R. Bailey, whom he married June 25, 1989.
He is also survived by four daughters, Mary Blake and her husband, Peter, of the Town of Washington, Karen Bruneau and her husband, Steven, of Merrimack, New Hampshire; and twin daughters, Dianna Preston and her husband, Gary, of Pittsfield, and Donna Cooney of Manchester, New Hampshire; a stepson, Jay Cassidy and his wife, Martina of Barstow, California; three stepdaughters, Randy-Lynn Cassidy and her companion, Layne Maille of Hinsdale, Sandra Cassidy of Hinsdale, and Linda Jones of Niskayuna, New York; thirteen grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Wheeler, and three sisters, Vera Carr, Elaine Briggs, and his twin sister, Ruth Wheeler.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Roswell Edward Wheeler will be held Monday, December 31, at 1 p.m., at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Michael C. Lillpopp, Parochial Vicar at St. Agnes Church, officiating. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 12 noon. Burial will be in the Spring in Maple Street Cemetery in Hinsdale. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Wheeler may be made to the Hinsdale Fire Department in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
