Rupert Norris

von Bockbrader

1992 - 2013 ALFORD Rupert Augustus Newlyn Wallace Custer Manning Wilkes Norris von Bockbrader came into this world March 7, 1992. He grew up on his family's Alford homestead, where he learned to love his land, its trees, its gardens, its fields, its woods, and its springs.

He schooled at Miss Becki's Kinderhof, the GB Rudolf Steiner School, the Berkshire School and Mt. Everett High School, but found greater attraction as a student of life in the wilds of Berkshire County.

His love of, and interest in, all things sportive gave him great pleasure. He studied each sport in great detail and spoke eloquently of the intricacies of each discipline. He played competitive soccer and baseball and especially excelled in ice hockey. He played both left wing and center for the Springfield Falcons. Most recently, Rupert laboured with friends in fields and forests and became known for his work ethic, hard work, humor, happiness and a special brand of kindness and warmth of soul.

He died March 30, 2013, in the Housatonic River, ever the seeker.

He leaves behind a vision for a better world, a loving and beautiful sister, Camilla, and his parents, Barbra Bockbrader and Robin Norris, as well as large extended family and many, many friends across the country.

His true legacy has yet to be defined but a celebratory gathering to honour his life will be held Sunday, April 7, at 5:30 p.m. at Campo de' Fiori, Route 7, in Sheffield. Rememberances and refreshments will be followed by storytelling at 7 p.m. after which we will release him on his journey in the best of fashion.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rupert's name to Railroad Street Youth Project at P.O. Box 698, 60 Pine Street, Great Barrington MA 01230. Condolences may be made through royfuneralservices.com. BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South Street, Great Barrington MA, 01230.
