SPC Scott A. Farrell

1989-2013 SPC Scott A. Farrell, 24, of Bradford Street, Pittsfield, died unexpectedly on Monday, September 2, 2013 at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Pittsfield, MA on August 23, 1989, the son of Scott B. Farrell and Pamela (Race) O'Connell. Scott was educated in Lee Schools and joined the military in 2009. At the time of his death, he was a member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard, assigned to B Co. 1-181 Infantry of Gardner, MA and attached to the Warrior Transition Unit. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds received while serving in Afghanistan, and the Combat Infantryman's Badge (CIB) for his actions in Afghanistan as well. In addition to his father and mother, Scott is survived by a son, Scott J. Farrell of Pittsfield, a daughter, Maddison Farrell of Becket, one brother Andrew Farrell of Lee, and two sisters, Kira Race and Rabakka Battini, both of Pittsfield. He also leaves his paternal grandmother Irma Jean Farrell of Lee and his maternal grandmother Joyce Race of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE: Visiting hours for Scott A. Farrell will be held on Monday, September 9 from 12 noon until 3 PM at the 1st Congregational Church in Lee. A graveside service with full military honors will immediately follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Lee with the Rev. Bill Neil officiating.
