Theodore J. Kolis, Sr.
1924-2013 Theodore J. "Slip" Kolis, Sr., 89, of 8 Haggerty Street, Adams, died Saturday morning, December 28, 2013 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Adams, MA on December 12, 1924. He was the son of Matthew & Katherine (Strzepek) Kolis. He attended Adams Schools, leaving school to serve with the 133rd Infantry Regiment of the US Army during World War II
, stationed in Italy and Africa until his Honorable Discharge as a Corporal in 1945. After his service he was employed at General Electric in the Power Transformer Division for 40 years as an Inspector. He was a member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Society. He was a member of the Maple Grove Civic Club, American Legion Post 160, and the Adams Senior Citizens Club. He was an Adams Town Meeting Member for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Forest Park Country Club. He was an avid golfer, bowler, pitch player, fisherman, hunter and mushroomer. He was a beloved, husband, father, grandfather. He always attended his children's and grandchildren's functions. He loved spending time at his camp in Savoy surrounded by his wife and family. He was communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Dolores Pelczynski Kolis, whom he married on June 20, 1953; Four sons, Theodore Kolis, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Adams, Stephen Kolis and his wife Lisa of Windsor, David Kolis and his wife Patricia of Adams, and Thomas Kolis and his wife Suzanne of Cheshire; Eight grandchildren, Jamie and Stacy Kolis, Kristen Slater, Emily Kolis, Stephanie Kolis, Ryan, Matthew and Jonathan Kolis. Three great grandchildren, Cameron Slater and Payton and Ivan Kolis. He also leaves siblings, Lillian Blazejewski, Jane Gilman, Francis Kolis, and William Kolis, all of Adams, Blanche Hoellerich and Ilene LaFrance of Cheshire, Edmond Kolis of Pennsylvania, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, James Kolis, on May 10, 1980; and by his siblings, Isabelle Lanski, Donald Kolis, Frederick Kolis, Adelle Carrigan, Mildred Zatorski. FUENRAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 31st, at 9:30 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor of the Parish of Blessed John Paul. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the funeral home.
