William H. Daniels

1933-2014 SAVOY William H. "Bill" Daniels, 81, of Savoy, died April 1, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Adams on February 17, 1935, the son of Julia Skorupski and William A. Daniels. He was educated in Adams and enlisted in the Navy in 1952, during the Korean War. Upon discharge from the Navy, he worked at the Finast Supermarket, Hooker Chemical and WR Grace, but his greatest achievement was building Shady Pines Campground in Savoy. He took an old farm, with house and land and created a nice place for families to camp and relax. He was a fisherman, and played horseshoes with friends and other campers. Bill is survivied by four children, Michael Daniels and his wife Peg, Linda Giroux and her husband Rick, Steven Daniels and his wife Diane, and Susan McGrath and her husband Tom; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ernest and Alphonse. He was predeceased by his wife, Edna, with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage; and one brother, Stanley. Private burial will be later at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Ahearn Funeral Home in Northampton is in charge of arrangements.
