William Watson

William J. Watson

PITTSFIELD William J. Watson, 81, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Pittsfield, passed away at his home on July 14, 2013, with his family at his side. Mr. Watson served his country during the Korean War as a sergeant U.S. Army Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne 508th Squadron and 2nd tour 7th Infantry Division.

He worked as an inspector for Beliot in Dalton, retiring in 1991 after 40 years with the company, and moved to Florida.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, the Elks Lodge in Pittsfield, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

William is survived by Janet, his wife of 57 years; children, William (Annmarie) of Gorham, Maine, Patricia (Richard) of Haslett, Texas, John (Ruby) of Pittsfield, and Sallyann (Robert) of Venice, Fla; grandchildren, Timothy, Thomas, John, Julianne, and Morgan; his mother, Helen of Pittsfield;, sisters, Helen (Joseph) of Troy, N.Y., Beverly (Alfred), Marian, and Joan (Anthony), all of Pittsfield, and several nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held in Pittsfield on Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, Venice Chapel, has been selected to care for arrangements.
