Matthew Luczynski Obituary
1984-2012 NORTH ADAMS Matthew B. Luczynski, 28, of West Shaft Road, North Adams, died November 30, 2012 at his home.
He was born in North Adams August 17, 1984 a son of Lawrence Luczynski and Patricia (Birkland) Nuvallie. He attended Stamford Elementary School in Stamford, Vt. and Graduated from Drury High Class of 2002. He was an accomplished athlete on the Varsity Baseball and Soccer teams there. He attended Springfield College and was pursuing a degree in Environmental Science at U-Mass Boston. He was employed as a Carpenter for 10 years with his father's family business Timberline Builders of Chatham, Mass., and currently by SLC Contractors in Clarksburg. He loved his friends and family, his dogs Alfie and Sammy, the outdoors, riding Snowmobiles, 4-wheelers, the ocean, and playing his guitar.
One of his many life's passions was being a professional snow cross racer with the former Rock Maple Racing Circuit of Wilmington, Vt. Being a member along with his dad, brother Chad, and the rest of "Team 99", was a very important part of Matt's life growing up. One of his proudest race career moments came at Mt. Snow Vt., winning the Bronze Medal in the 2001-2002 X-Games Hillcross event against nationwide competition at age 16. His charm and magnetic personality made him beloved by all that knew him.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather Patricia and Michael Nuvallie of North Adams, father and stepmother Lawrence Luczynski and Kathy (Wysocki) Berti of Chatham, Mass., one sister Terese Luczynski of Bennington, Vt., and one brother Chad Luczynski of Springfield, Mass. Paternal grandparents Anthony and Jacqueline (Morehouse) Luczynski of North Adams, a nephew Brody Smith and several aunts,uncles and cousins.
He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Elaine (Bushee) Birkland and Bernard Birkland.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Matthew B. Luczynski will take place Saturday December 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, North Adams, Ma. Calling hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adams, Ma. are Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Courage for Colten Fund. For other remembrances please visit www.flynndagnolifuneralhomes.com.

I will never forget the wonderful times I shared with Matt racing sno-cross. Some of my greatest memories were of me riding on the back of Matt's sled, carrying the American flag during opening ceremonies. I felt so honored to be his friend. Matt will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to you.

Dear Trish, Larry & family,
While I haven't seen any of the kids in a very long time, I have fond memories of babysitting ALL of them (and by all, I mean everyone's kids, all at one time, at your home). The task of watching a bunch of Luczynski AND Wood kids, and who ever else was around at the time, was a daunting task, to say the least :), but Matt was always a very sweet boy. I still have all of the Christmas cards that you sent my mom through the years, photo cards with pics of the kids...the way that I still envision them.
I hope that you can find the strength in God and His plan as a way to make peace with this tragedy.

Sending hugs and support to Matt's family and close friends during this VERY difficult time. He is someone I will never forget, because he was such a warm and fun person..excellent snowmobile rider and that is something we shared. I loved watching Matt ride for Team 99 at Mt. Snow, he was awesome and riding really was a big part of Matt. From goofing off in Drury Spanish class, to seeing him last at State Street T, I will miss this man dearly.
