Titus Johnson Obituary

Titus Allen Johnson

January 23, 2013 - April 15, 2015 DALTON Titus Allen Johnson was born on January 23, 2013 at 10:01 a.m. at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. He passed safely into the arms of Jesus on April 15th, at 2:38 am. He was the son of Mark Owen Johnson, Jr., and MacKenzie Jo Wood both born and raised in the town of Dalton. Titus's tiny little spirit left this world only two years after he entered it, with so much light and love in his heart. He left a huge impact on this world around him in deep and lasting ways. He taught us about strength and compassion in his short time here on Earth. He was always at the ready to put snacks in his friends and families mouths, smile at the big kids, a firetruck, or a train. He loved snuggles from his parents, grandparents and his big sister, Carmen. From the moment Titus was born, he was a force with a stern brow and caring blue eyes. He was known for his smiling eyes and his heartwarming belly-laugh. Many will say he had such an old soul. His battle with AML Leukemia showed this. He was diagnosed at a very young age of just 5 months old. He took intense chemotherapy by its horns and went into remission in November of 2013, like a true warrior. It was not without heartache that he relapsed in April of 2014. After a remission was once again achieved, Titus received a match to have a Bone Marrow transplant on June 6, 2014. After a hard fight with trips to the ICU, and many long days and nights of medicine and treatments, Titus returned to his home in Dalton with many restrictions. Everything was looking great and things seemed to be getting back to a normal state. Until, on November 6, 2014, on a routine visit to Boston to the Dana Farber Cancer Institue/Jimmy Fund Clinic, it was said that Titus had once again relapsed. With relapse AML post-transplant so soon, treatment was not available, as Titus's small body and organs were still recovering from his transplant. The Oncology team offered a low-dose chemotherapy drug, that would potentially prolong things, giving him around a few weeks to a month to live. In hopes of getting him through the holidays. Titus being the Warrior he is, not only made it through the holidays, but he also made it to his 2nd Birthday and was able to have a huge celebration. And then he made it to Easter. Titus was not only a special little boy to his loving family, but also, to his very supporting church family at New Life Community Fellowship. There, he loved listening to the music, watching the drums, and pointing at the pictures on the screen. And, of course, piping in with a laugh or giggle during the Paster's sermon. Titus was also loved by so many followers of his facebook page called, "Titus's Journey WITH Leukemia". His family kept everyone updated on his progress throughout his journey. This page consisted of 5,600 viewers at the time of his death, all of whom have become a social-media 'family' throughout the world. Titus not only loved spending time with his parents and grandparents but also his siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins. Titus will be lovingly missed and remembered by his father, Mark Jr, his mother, Kenzie along with his paternal grandparents, Mark O. Sr. and Theresa M. Johnson of Dalton, his maternal grandparents, William B. and Cheryl L.
