Shari Scace Obituary

Shari L. Scace 1962-2011 PITTSFIELD Shari Lynn Stanard Scace of 84 Knox Road, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 surrounded by her most treasured family and friends. She had been battling breast cancer, bravely and nobly, since December. Shari was born in Pittsfield on August 11, 1962 to the late Julia Duby Stanard and William M. Stanard, Sr. of South Lee. Shari was employed with Hospice Care of the Berkshires, where she worked diligently as the office coordinator. She loved to help people with her beautiful smile and optimistic eyes. The former years of her career were spent in the insurance field, working for Wheeler and Taylor as well as Toole Agency. Shari graduated from Lee High School in 1980. She was also a graduate of Barbizon Modeling school in 1980. In her adult years, she was an avid tennis player at Berkshire West and the USTA. She was an organizer for the Relay for Life team "Fit for the Fight" that she started in the 1990s. Shari was a parishioner of Pittsfield Church of Christ. Shari was a loving, insightful, and caring mother of her two sons, Mitchell T. Scace, 20, a college student of Pittsfield, and Andrew M. Scace, 14, a freshman at Taconic High School. As a dedicated and spirited sports and activities fan of her children, she was always the first to organize, volunteer, and be creative with her children and their friends. She leaves her husband Thomas, 49, of Pittsfield, a man whom she admired and respected every day they shared together. The two were wed June 25, 1988. Shari is also survived by her father, William M. Stanard, Sr. of South Lee; a sister, Lynda Stanard of Lenox, two brothers, Edward Stanard (and Jeanne) of Westfield and William M. Stanard Jr. (and Lynn) of Monterey. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Wayne Scace (and Eileen) of Pittsfield, and Brigadier General Daniel Scace (and Tami) of Connecticut, as well as her sisters-in-law Anne Scace of Pittsfield and Joan Lequinn of Savoy. Shari also leaves eight nieces and seven nephews, and nine grandnieces and nephews, all who loved her very much. She leaves her life long friend Torey Winn, of Lee. Shari also leaves her father-in-law, Raymond Scace of Pittsfield. Her mother-in-law was the late Elaine Scace. Shari loved to laugh hysterically and was always the life of the party. There was no person in Shari's life she did not touch with her amazing personality. She was, and will continue to be, a true blessing and gift. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Shari Scace will be Saturday May 28, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Pittsfield Church of Christ, 826 Valentine Rd., with the Rev. Russell Moody officiating. I am sadden to hear of Shari's passing. I enjoyed her passion for life, as she would brighten the room at Hem/Onc years ago. She had such an energy about her that she ALWAYS made others feel better when they were in such a bad place in their lives. Keep all of your memories close to your heart in this difficult time. It will help bring you peace.
