1936-2012 WILLIAMSTOWN Mrs. Patricia (Macbeth) Short, 76, of 105 Harrison Ave. Williamstown, died Tuesday October 30, 2012 at Williamstown Commons.
She was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, on March 23, 1936, daughter of Sydney W. and Pauline (McRoberts) Macbeth. She attended schools in Kingsport, Tenn., and graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in nursing.
Pat worked in nursing during the early part of her career eventually becoming the director of the Visiting Nurse Association in Williamstown. She was always willing to give up her time to help others in need.
She was a founding member of the co-op nursery at the Little Red Schoolhouse in South Williamstown.
Pat was very creative. She was a talented artist and particularly enjoyed painting and stained glass design. During the 1980s, she managed her own stained glass studio in Houston, Texas and conducted many workshops with nationally known stained glass artisans. She was the key person involved in the restoration of the stained glass windows in the Morristown Presbyterian Church in Morristown, N.J. Gardening and flower arranging were among her greatest passions. She was an active member and past president of the Williamstown Garden Club.
Pat was an advocate for women's rights and was an active member of the League of Women Voters. She was always willing to discuss her political views with others and was an avid and extremely knowledgeable follower of politics. Above all Pat was devoted to her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Pat was a member of the First Congregational Church of Williamstown.
Survivors include her husband, Leigh Short, whom she married on August 5, 1979. Brother Richard Macbeth (Gail) of Kingsport, Tenn. Sons- Keith Jones (Marita) of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Steven Jones (Bonnie), of Charlton, N.Y. Daughter - Laura Jones Kobrin (Troy) of Williamstown two stepchildren- Jane Fisher (Gary) of Littleton, Colo., and Michael Short (Tracey) of Clearwater, Fla., nine grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.
