Aileen Doris Riel Mazza

1928-2014 NORTH ADAMS Mrs. Aileen Doris Riel Mazza, 85 of 10 Veazie St. North Adams, died Sunday April 27, 2014 at Berkshire Medical Center. She was born in Cohoes, N.Y., on September 21, 1928, daughter of Henry and Anna May (LaFreniere) Riel. After the death of her parents, she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, Julia Rose Riel Morin and Robert Joseph Morin. She moved to North Adams at age 6 and lived In the Greylock section. She attended the Holy Family Parochial School. Aileen was employed by the Sprague Electric Co. in various departments for 45 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the Sprague retirees. Aileen enjoyed 48 years of marriage to Pasquale Mazza, who died on November 13, 1998. They were married on August 12, 1950 at Holy Family Church in Greylock. Survivors include two daughters; Lorraine Zell and her husband, David of Tolland, Conn.; and Patricia LaPointe and her husband, Raymond of Awendaw, S.C., four grandchildren; Geoffrey LaPointe, Evan Zell, Savanna Zell, and Justin Zell, one great grandchild; Maddilyn Riel Zell, Nieces, Nephews, Grandnieces, and Grandnephews. One sister and three brothers are deceased including Lucille Bullett, Henri Riel, Leo Morin, and Alfred Patenaude. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Aileen Mazza will be celebrated Saturday May 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery.
