Alba Josephine Ryan

1916-2012 Alba Josephine Ryan, 96, formerly of Anita Drive, Pittsfield, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox.

Born in Pittsfield on March 19, 1916, a daughter of John B. and Mary Tessanari Forni, she was a 1934 graduate of Pittsfield High School and attended Berkshire Business College.

She was employed as a secretary for H.W. Clark, a grocery wholesaler, for nine years until 1941.

Mrs. Ryan was a communicant of St. Ann Church in Lenox and had been a communicant of the former St. Teresa Church in Pittsfield.

She enjoyed reading.

Her husband, James H. Ryan, whom she married September 20, 1941, died January 17, 2004.

Mrs. Ryan is survived by two sons, Thomas J. Ryan of Woonsocket, R.I., and John M. Ryan and his wife, Joyce, of Dalton; a sister, Laura Drummond of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Matthew, Monica, Seth, and Tom and three great grandchildren, Evan, Celeste, and Lena.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Blanche Kiger late of Pittsfield and Rita Forni late of Connecticut.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Alba Josephine Ryan will be held Saturday, September 1, 2012 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., at St. Ann Church in Lenox celebrated by Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, Pastor. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Ryan may be made to St. Ann Church or to Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center, both in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
