Albert H. Fortin 1921-2012 ADAMS Albert H. Fortin, 90, of 96 Columbia St., died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the Sweet Brook Transitional Care and Living Center in Williamstown. Born in Adams on August 11, 1921, son of the late Louis and Florida Bleau Fortin he attended Adams Schools, and worked for the former Berkshire Mills in Adams in his younger years. His last place of employment was for the General Electric Co., in Pittsfield in the Power Transformer Dept., before retiring in 1982. He was a U.S. Marine Corp WWII veteran serving in the Pacific Theater. He was an active communicant of the former Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church in Adams, He was a member of Post 996 of the VFW in North Adams, and Post 160 of the American Legion in Adams, he enjoyed wood working and had numerous hobbies and interests which included coin and LP record collecting, as well as hunting, fishing, and gardening, he was an avid Boston Red Sox and Celtic fan. He also enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Adams Turners League. He is survived by his wife of sixty five years, the former Doris Roy, whom he married on October 12, 1946. Three daughters, Tina Kelly and her husband Terry of Readsboro, Vt., Paula Fortin of Pittsfield, Pam Fortin of Adams, a son, John Fortin of Adams, two grandchildren, Deane McCann and his wife Rachel of Pittsfield, Bryant Avery of Adams, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters and one brother. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Albert H. Fortin will take place Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 12 p.m. in the Parish of Pope John Paul the Great in Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. Calling hours at the TROTTIER PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams will be Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Donations in his memory can be made to the in care of the funeral home.
