1918 - 2016 LENOX Albert C. Russo, 97 of 329 Pittsfield Road (Devonshire Estates), Lenox, MA died Tuesday February 9, 2016 at Berkshire Medical Center. He was born in Pittsfield on July 17, 1918 a son of the late Antonio and Maria (Lupisella) Russo. He attended Pittsfield Schools and was employed as a plumber for 51 years. Albert worked for various plumbing shops in Berkshire County and retired in 1983. He was a Veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years in the Pacific on the ship U.S.S. Beale. He was a former communicant of Mt. Carmel Church and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Church Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Plumbers Union Local #151 of Pittsfield, a former member of Berkshire Hills Country Club and was an avid golfer and fisherman. His first wife, the former Jennie C. Volpi died on October 2, 1974. He is survived by his second wife, the former Monica F. Ayers Hilchey and they were married on April 29, 1983, his daughter, Sharon M. Martin and her husband, Anthony of Dalton, three step-sons, David W. Hilchey of North Adams, Charles J. Hilchey and his wife, Gayle of Demopolis, AL, Scott E. Hilchey and his wife, Paula of Cheshire, three step-daughters, Ellen L. Johnson and her husband, Daniel of the state of Washington, JoAnn Long and Kim M. Ross both of Frederick, MD, 12 grand-children, 11 great-grand-children, one brother, Anthony Russo of Lilburn, GA, one sister, Mary Pizzuto of Stone Mountain, GA, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Rocco J., Joseph P., Carmen and Thomas Russo and Frank Russo who died in World War II and one step-daughter, Donna L. Mahar. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will take place Monday, February 15, 2016 at 9a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 196 Elm St., Pittsfield with the Rev. Peter M. Naranjo II, Parochial Vicar, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, February 14, from 4 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to in care of the funeral home.
