"Bert" Wyckoff

1913-2013 NORTH CANAAN, CT Alberta Harriet "Bert" Wyckoff, 99, of West Main St. died Saturday June 29, 2013 at Fairview Commons, Great Barrington where she had resided for the past five months.

She was born on Oct. 28, 1913 in Winsted, Conn., and was the daughter of the late Winthrop George and Eva May (Jackline) Wyckoff. She graduated from Canaan High School in the class of 1932.

Albert worked as a nanny for Dr. John and Dorothea Elliott for more than 20 years and always had great affection for their children John, David and Thea who she remained close to.

Subsequently, she worked for many years at Halpern's Deli on Railroad St. and she enjoyed her daily interaction with the people of Canaan. Later she was employed as a care giver/ companion for Mrs. Grace Cowling.

Alberta lover her home and yard on West Main St. and enjoyed taking care of her flowers and watching wild life.

Alberta was predeceased by her two brothers Frederick George Wyckoff and his wife Florence of Pirttsfield, and Edwin J. Wyckoff and his wife Christine of Winsted and Canaan, Conn.; and a sister Jane Elizabeth Wyckoff of Canaan, Conn.

Her survivors include a nephew Winthrop F. Wyckoff and his wife Marge of Pittsifled, and a niece Carole Ann Campoli and her hisband John of Cape Cod, Mass. Grandnieces and grandnephews include Kellie Fuller, Patricia Reid, Michael Bissaillon, Colleen Wemple, David Wyckoff, Angela Campoli and Tracy Campoli, as well as 12 great-grandnieces and great-grand nephews. Alberta was also survived by Sherrie Heath, a good friend and local care giver, and her family.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will be held on Friday July 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Mountain View Cemetery Sand Road North Canaan, CT 06018. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the care of the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home 118 Main St. Canaan, CT 06018
