Andrew Francis Gigliotti

1926 - 2014 PORT ORANGE FLA Mr. Andrew Francis Gigliotti, 88, of Port Orange, Fla., and formerly of 64 East St. Adams, died Saturday Dec. 6, at Bishop's Glen Nursing Home in Holly Hill, Fla. He was born in North Adams, on Feb. 28, 1926, son of Amedeo P. and Emilia "Mae" (Grande) Gigliotti. He graduated from the Drury High School. Mr. Gigliotti was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Army Air Corps. Following his military service, he completed his education at Keene State College where he earned his Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Industrial Education. After teaching in Stowe, Vt. for two years, Andrew taught industrial arts at Drury High School until he transferred to Adams Memorial High School in 1957. He taught in Adams, continuing at Hoosac Valley High School and retired as chairman of the industrial arts department in 1981. After his teaching career, Andrew joined the Isgood Realty firm in Pittsfield and helped open its Adams office with Harold Dupee until his retirement in 1988. He was a communicant of the former St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Andrew was a Trustee of the Adams Memorial Library and was a member of the Adams Housing Authority. He was a member and past president of the Adams Teacher's Association and a member and past president of the Berkshire County Industrial Arts Teachers Association. He was a member of the American legion Post #125 and the Adams Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, the former Margaret Mary Brooks, whom he married on Aug. 19, 1950; one daughter, Linda Irace and her husband, Floyd, of Port Orange, Fla.; and five sons, including Andrew P. Gigliotti and his wife, Debra, and William F. Gigliotti and his wife, Luanne, of Adams, Robert D. Gigliotti and his wife, Melanie, of LaGrange, Ky., Thomas M. Gigliotti and his wife, Susan, of Chesapeake, Va., and Steven A. Gigliotti and his wife, Michele, of Cheshire. He also leaves 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, including Ronald A. Gigliotti of LaPorte, Ind., and Alan P. Gigliotti of Hudson; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be Monday Dec. 15, at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 4 - 7 PM.
