Ann Lucy Thorne

1923-2013 LEE Ann L. Thorne 89, of 80 Reservoir Road died at home on Tuesday evening, January 1, 2013

Born in Lenox, July 26, 1923 she was the youngest of four children born to Eugene J. Mackey Jr. and Mary M. Harrer Mackey. A graduate of Lenox High School, class of 1940, she attended Kansas State University, later marrying Edward G. Thorne of Lee in 1951 and had made her home in Lee thereafter.

While in Lenox she was a communicant and catechist at St. Ann's Church. Later, as a communicant of St. Mary 's Church in Lee, she served her latter parish over the greater span of her life in various capacities including teaching CCD, and was most recently involved in the Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration at Our Lady's Oratory.

Mrs. Thorne was employed by the former Wm. B Bull and Sons of Lenox, later taking a position with the All 4 Seasons Travel Agency, also of Lenox, as bookkeeper, and as later as a secretary to the late Attorney Michael J. Meagher, proprietor of the agency. In her last years, she worked for the Social Security office in Pittsfield through Elder Services, retiring in June of 2004.

Mrs. Thorne leaves her four children; Susan Cook of Lee, Mark Thorne (and wife Mary) of Pittsfield, Brian Thorne (and wife Terri) of Lee, and Lisa Thorne of Stockbridge; as well as five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

Mrs. Thorne is predeceased by her brother, Eugene J. Mackey, Jr, a prominent St. Louis architect, in 1968, and by her two sisters, Helen Mutter in 1973, and Margaret Macey in 2005.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Mrs. Ann M. Thorne of Lee will be Friday, January 4, 2013, at the Roche Funeral Home in Lenox from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Church at 11, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery, in Lenox. A reception will follow at St. Ann's Parish Family Center.
