She previously resided at 44 Bernard Avenue, Pittsfield. The former Anna Stavaski was born on August 4, 1930 in Adams, MA, a daughter of the late Ellen Weaver Stavaski and John Stavaski. She attended schools in Cheshire and Adams, graduating in 1948. Anna married Norman Bedard on May 28, 1949; they shared 56 happy years before his death on September 24, 2005. They enjoyed traveling in their RV and fulfilled a life-long dream when they took a cruise to Alaska. Anna was employed at GE Ordnance for 32 years, retiring in 1992. Previously, she had worked at AH Rice & Pittsfield Novelty Co. for 12 years. She graduated from Lee Real Estate Institute as a real estate broker, was a member of the Board of Realtors and worked at several local real estate agencies. Anna was a GE Pensioner, member of the Quarter Century Club and IUE 255. She was a volunteer SHINE counselor at Elder Services. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, as well as calling Bingo on Saturday nights at Melbourne Place and visiting the area Casinos to play slot machines until her declining health precluded her from enjoying these pursuits any longer. More important than anything else was her family. She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses; Brenda and David Meacham of Pittsfield, MA; Lynn and Steve Kopas of Austin, Texas; Bonny and John DiTomasso of Peru, MA. Also, the two grandsons she adored: Matthew Bailey (fiance Laura) of Belton, Texas; and Jonathan Bailey (girlfriend Amber) of Georgetown, Texas. In addition, she is survived by her big brother, John Stavaski, of Lawrence, MA; daughter-in-law Susan Bedard; sister-in-law Jane Stavaski . Also, nieces and nephews: Craig Comstock, who always called her "Mom"; Terri Beyer; David, Michael and Mark Stavaski; Kathy Dove and Paul Stavaski; Richard, Donna and Peter Sedgwick; as well as great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Anna was predeceased by her beloved son, Arthur Bedard, who died much too young on May 6, 2010; nephew Kevin Comstock; siblings Mary Comstock, Francis "Bud" Stavaski, and Albert Stavaski; sisters-in-law Regina "Rita" Stavaski, Virginia "Ginger" Stavaski, Phyllis Sedgwick, Ellen Roberts; brothers-in-law Samuel Comstock and Richard Sedgwick. The family would like to thank all of the following for their compassionate care of our Mom during her lengthy illness: Drs. Also, the Renal Dialysis Unit and Wound Care Center at BMC, Berkshire Visiting Nurse, the staff of Melbourne Place, and Hospice of the Berkshires.
