Anna "Ann" M. Geary

1918-2015 CHESHIRE Anna "Ann" M. Geary of 12 Richardson Street, Cheshire died peacefully at home on June 12, 2015 after a long illness. Born in Maltby, Pa. on April 1, 1918, Ann was the second of six beautiful daughters of Italian immigrants, Giuseppe and Mary Marby LoCascio. As a young girl, the family relocated to Pittsfield where she attended local schools. During World War II, Ann was employed at General Electric contributing to the war effort. In the early 1970's, she was employed at Riseberg's Clothing Store in Pittsfield, eventually purchasing and operating the business until retirement and moving to Florida in 1980. She married her husband, James on December 18, 1943 and after the war, moved to a new home in Lanesborough where she spent the next 30 years raising her family. In 2007, Ann and Jim relocated to the Berkshires to a new home in Cheshire, next door to son, Michael and daughter-in-law, Ernestine Geary. Ann is survived by her husband of 71 years, James Geary; daughters, Patricia Driscoll and her husband, David of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Diane Magargal and her husband, Steve of Worthington; sons, James Geary and partner, Tina Barnini of Cheshire, and Michael Geary and his wife, Ernestine of Cheshire. She is also survived by sisters, Julia Carey of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Jenny Ramsey, Fran Martin, Josie Pigott all of Pittsfield; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Dolly Parise of Pittsfield. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to daughter-in-law, Ernestine for the years of loving care she provided and also to her caregivers, Fanny Manston and HospiceCare in the Berkshires for their support in her final days. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Anna "Ann" M. Geary will be Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 9 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church, celebrated by the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. Flowers are welcome and if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St, Pittsfield MA, in her memory.
