1924-2013 PITTSFIELD Anna Y. Roviaro, 89, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on April 28, 1924, a daughter of Mark and Tatiana Sokolowsky Nykorchuck, she was educated in Pittsfield in Pittsfield schools, and was a 1942 graduate of Pittsfield High School, and attended Berkshire Business College. Mrs. Roviaro had been employed by General Electric Company as an assembler in the Ordinance Department. She retired on March 1, 1987, with 19 years service. She had previously worked for A.H. Rice Silk Mill, Liggett's Drug Store, and Boston Auto Gauge. Mrs. Roviaro was a communicant of St. Charles Church, and was a member of the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center and the General Electric Pensioners Club. She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, crocheting and knitting, and crossword puzzles. Her husband, John S. Roviaro, whom she married October 21, 1950, at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church, died May 19, 1991. Mrs. Roviaro is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. Bijou, of Edmond, Oklahoma; three sons, John M. Roviaro and his wife, Susan, of Savoy, Mark A. Roviaro and his wife, Nancy, of Pittsfield, and Dennis W. Roviaro, of Cheshire; a sister, Dorothy Cetti of Pittsfield; three grandchildren, Katie Roviaro, Dianna Miskovsky and her husband, Andrew, and Tommy Bijou; and four great grandchildren, Dani, Taylar, Brayden, and Ava. She was pre-deceased by one sister, Mary Dmytryshyn; and three brothers, John, William, and Nicholas Nychorchuk. Mrs. Roviaro's family would like to thank the staff at Berkshire Medical Center and at Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association for the care and comfort given to their mother. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Anna Y. Roviaro will be held Friday, November 8, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m, at St. Charles Church celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Church or to the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association, both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
