1933 - 2015 PAXTON, MA Anne Littlefield Peck Calkins passed away Monday, June 29th, 2015. Anne was born September 27, 1933 in New London, CT to Norman and Esther Peck and was raised in Niantic, CT. She met her husband, Richard Rogers Calkins there and they were married May 1, 1953 and had recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Anne was a graduate of Williams Memorial Institute and had attended the University of Maine in Portland. Anne and Richard lived in many places but raised their children in Falmouth, Maine and Worcester, MA before moving to Great Barrington, MA and recently moving to Paxton for health reasons. Anne was employed for many years in the Worcester Public School system and Berkkshire Hills School District. She also volunteered through the years as a girl scout leader and softball coach in Worcester and with the Thursday Morning Club in Gt. Barrington. She was a long time member of the First Congregational Church in Worcester, MA. An avid Red Sox fan and longtime Democrat while her husband was a Yankee fan and Republican led to many entertaining debates. Anne was active and adventurous. She loved the beach, walking, hiking, swimming in the ocean, skiing and kayaking. Her trips to Europe with her husband and children and Caribbean trips with Bill and Jane Calkins were some of her fondest memories. There were also many wonderful weekends spent on Moshier Island with family and the Harrimans, longtime friends. Spending July 4th and Thanksgiving in Niantic with her family and the Pecks were traditions. She was an avid reader, gardener and cookie maker. Anne was a woman who was always positive and smiling and will be greatly missed by so many. Besides her husband, Anne is survived by a son, John Calkins, his partner, Jen Grow and their three children, Beckett, Sophie and Emme of Northampton, MA. She also leaves a daughter, Donna Sansoucy, her husband, John Sansoucy and their two children, Thomas and Carly of Paxton, MA. She leaves her daughter, Lisa Calkins of Marshfield, MA and her child, Heidi Kurpaska. A daughter, Karen Calkins and her partner, Jen Defilippo of Brimfield, MA and daughter, Lori Calkins. Anne adored her six grandchildren and attended many of their activities. She also leaves her brothers, Thomas Peck of Waterford, CT and Norman Peck, Jr. of Niantic, CT, many nieces and nephews and friends wherever she lived. The family wishes to thank recent caregivers both at home and at Golden Living-Hermitage. Anne will be buried in Niantic, CT at a later date and services will be private.
