PITTSFIELD – Anthony Scott Taylor, 53, of 60 Winter Street, passed unexpectedly at home on November 16, 2015. Born on September 2, 1962 in Trenton, New Jersey the son of the late Carol A. Taylor and Wilmer L. Johnson of Washington, D.C., who resides in Detroit MI, he attended school in Michigan. He decided in his early 20's to pursue a career in culinary arts. In 1989, he met Crystal Ortiz and immediately they fell in love. At the time of his death Anthony was employed as a Chef at the Crown Plaza and Hotel on North. He enjoyed cooking, fishing and spending time with his family. Anthony was affectionately known as a "Grand Pop to Everyone." Anthony is survived by his wife of 26 years Crystal D. (Ortiz) Taylor of Pittsfield; his daughters; Tieshawna M. Ortiz of Pittsfield, Shagail A. Johnson of Knoxville, TN., and Carol A. Ortiz of Pittsfield, his sons; Anthony S. Johnson of Detroit, MI., Donjaron I. Ortiz of Pittsfield, Dyvon A. Ortiz of Pittsfield, Trevon A. Taylor of Pittsfield and Trevor E. Taylor also of Pittsfield, his sisters; Angela L. Johnson of Pittsfield, Annette C. Johnson of Pittsfield, Davetta M. Johnson of Albany, GA., Erica Johnson of Detroit, MI., Barbra Ghant of Saginaw, MI, and Trina G. Hill of PA., his brothers; Raheem R. Johnson of Pittsfield, Wilmer L. Johnson Jr. of Detroit, MI. and Eric D. Shuman of Pittsfield; his grandchildren; Hezekiah R. Scott of Pittsfield, Crystal B. Ortiz-Style of Pittsfield, Nevaeh D. Taliaferro of Pittsfield, and Katelin Johnson of Detroit, MI., he also leaves behind his nieces and nephews Anthony Scott Johnson, Stephanie Vil, Garrett Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Paul Ewan Jr, Patrick Ewan, Gary Todd, Raiyne Todd, Niasia Johnson, Eric Shuman Jr, Sha'ron Shuman, Sebastian Shuman, Cedrick David, Richard David, Jerrie Ghant, Ericka Hill, Lashon Hasker, Lamont, Moneja Stovall, Corey Johnson, Artie Stevens, LaDorya Green, Inajah, Paris, Qwan, Andrea, Renasha, Audreyanna, Carnessa, Dontez, Dewayne, Charmel, and Charda... Also a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved him very much. To the one Aunt that truly I mean truly drove him crazy with her mouth, but loved him to pieces Aunt Terry. To Anthony: "Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not, Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass; It's about learning to dance in the rain." We all know that you're home, in a better place. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Memorial Service will be held for Anthony at The Crown Plaza on Monday, November 23rd, 2015 from 11am to 6pm located at 1 West Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Anthony's memory to Crystal Taylor to assist with funeral expenses, in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
