Anthony Francis Zappone 1930-2012 ADAMS Mr. Anthony Francis Zappone, 81 of 3 Myrtle St. Adams, died Thursday March 29, 2012 at his home. He was born in North Adams, on July 8, 1930, son of Vincent and Antoinette (Macchia) Zappone. He attended North Adams schools and graduated from the Drury High School with the class of 1948. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the US Navy on the USS Epperson. Anthony was employed by General Electric Co. in Pittsfield in its Power Transformer Division for 42 years until his retirement. He and his wife, Gioia also operated the Twin Sisters Inn in North Adams for many years. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and a member of the GE Pensioners. Anthony was devoted to his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, the former Gioia Mancini, whom he married on October 22, 1955 in St. Anthony of Padua Church. One daughter; Donna Boesse, and her husband, Michael of Adams. Two sons; James Zappone, and his wife, Rose Anne of Pownal, Vt., David Zappone, and his longtime companion, Sherry Therrien of Adams, Eleven Grandchildren; Sonia, Michael, Justin, Joshua, Jessica, Jonathan, Emily, Chad, Carrie, Jacob, and Kayla. One Great Granddaughter; Skyana. Two sisters; Mary Girgenti and Elizabeth Gagne of North Adams. Nieces and nephews. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased including Jerry and Vincent Zappone; Carmen Woodside and Theresa Dabrowski. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral for Anthony Zappone will be Monday April 2, 2012 at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church.
