PERU - Arthur W. Weeks, 97, of North Rd, Peru, died at home on Sunday morning, June 24, 2012.
Born in Bethel, Conn., Aug. 23, 1914, son of Merritt E. and Clara Minch Weeks, he attended schools in Connecticut. He had worked at New Departure Bearing Co. in Connecticut, owned a small grocery store in Connecticut, was an iceman (ice peddler), operated a few local gas stations, was a manager of a First National Grocery Store, had worked at Kelly Hardwood, and worked at General Electric Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching NASCAR and enjoyed other auto racing. He was married to the late Pearl E. Ingersoll Weeks, whom he married Aug. 4, 1935; she died Aug. 25, 1986.
He leaves one daughter, Lana M. Hall and her husband, Kenneth, of Peru and three sons, Warren A. Weeks and his wife, Linda, of Smithfield, Maine, Dale R. Weeks and his wife, Barbara, of Peru and Terry D. Weeks and his wife, Robin, of Peru. He also leaves many grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son James M. Weeks, who died in 1994; two brothers, George and Robert, and two sisters, Myrtle and Ella.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Arthur W. Weeks who died Sunday June 24, 2012, will be private. Burial will take place in the Peru Center Cemetery. DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME will be in charge of the arrangements.
