Austin Alfred Liebenow, Sr.

1940 - 2015 EAST LEE Austin Alfred Liebenow, Sr. 74, of 705 Cape Street, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on Jan. 28, 1940 in Pittsfield, a son of the late Austin Andrew Liebenow and Lillian Houghtlin Liebenow Derby. He attended schools in Pittsfield and was a 1958 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was last employed for the former Berkshire Hills North Nursing Home in Lee for 15 years as a nursing assistant. For most of his working career he was a baker and had worked at the former Adams Supermarket in Lee as the bakery manager, and for 30 years he was a baker at the former Borgo's Bakery on East St. in Pittsfield. He was a former member of the Lion's Club; he enjoyed spending time with his family and camping. His wife, the former Marrianne R. Daley, whom he married April 4, 1959 died Oct. 6, 2014. He is survived by two daughters, Linda M. Liebenow Biagiotti and husband, Charles and Elizabeth L. Martindill all of Lee, Ma. Five sons, Austin A. Liebenow, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Dalton, John A. Liebenow and wife, Lucia of Pittsfield, Mark C. Liebenow and wife, Brenda of Lee, Matthew R. Liebenow and wife, Sheila of Pittsfield and Melvin F. Liebenow and wife, Dorothy of Pittsfield. Two sisters, Elizabeth Pettibone and husband, Paul Sr. and Emma Brookman and husband, William all of Pittsfield. 17 grandchildren and 28 great -grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE: A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Salvation Army on West St. in Pittsfield. Burial will be in the spring at the Pittsfield Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorials in his memory may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or to the Salvation Army of Pittsfield both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. 01201 which is handling arrangements.
