John B.Mrs. Barbara Manning Palma, age 88, who died Sunday evening at Springside Nursing home and has now joined her only " True Love" , Oliver C. Palma, Sr. whom she married Dec. 1, 1951. He died in April 2,1963 She was born in March 30, 1928, in Rochester,N.H., the daughter of the late John M. and Mary F. Barton Manning. She attended the local schools and was a 1945 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Dover, N.H. Barbara was very proud of her service in U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict era. She was Honorably Discharged May 29, 1952. Most recently she was employed as an administrative assistant with HospiceCare in the Berkshires retiring in 2007. Previously, she had been employed as the secretary and bookkeeper at St. Charles Church Rectory for 12 years. Following that, she had been employed as a clerk at Elder Services of Berkshire County. A member of the Ancient Hibernians, she founded the original chapter and served as president of Parents Without Partners. Barbara volunteered her time with the PTA when her children were going and going through school. Additionally, Barbara in the more recent years volunteered and enjoyed spending her time with the elderly. She is survived by her two sons, Oliver C. Palma, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Sheffield and Timothy J. Palma of Pittsfield, 3 daughters, Elizabeth M. Palma and her fiancé, Scott Armstrong of Pittsfield, Kathleen A. Ravech and her husband, Stuart, of Newton, Ma., Cynthia Palma of Pittsfield, her brother, Frank Sikorski, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev.. Her brother, John B. Manning predeceased her. SERVICES: PALMA, Barbara Manning, age 88, of Pittsfield, died Sunday, Oct. 30th . Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be WEDNESDAY morning beginning at 8:30 am. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 A.M. at St. Charles Church, with the Rev. A. Peter Gregory, pastor, officiating. Military Honors will follow immediately following Mass and burial will follow at a later date in St. Bridget's Cemetery in Housatonic.
