1923 - 2013 DALTON Benjamin Charles Brooksbank, 90, of 54 Gertrude Road, and Margate, Fla., died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox, where he had resided since August 2012.

Born in Holyoke on Jan. 10, 1923, a son of Benjamin and Mary Curran Brooksbank, he was a 1940 graduate of Holyoke High School and attended Northeastern College in Springfield.

Mr. Brooksbank was employed as a Systems Analyst for General Electric Company. He retired in 1984 with 37 years service.

He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Brooksbank served his community as a member of the Dalton School Committee and the Dalton Planning Board. He had been a member of the G.E. Quarter and Pensioners Clubs.

He was a Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed playing golf, and watching sports on television.

Mr. Brooksbank's wife, the former Agnes F. Sullivan, whom he married April 22, 1946, in St. Jerome Church in Holyoke, died Dec. 5, 2005.

Mr. Brooksbank is survived by two sons, Larry J. Brooksbank of Pittsfield, and Brian C. Brooksbank of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Ann F. Lucaroni, and her husband, David, of Lenox, and Kerry L. Demers, and her husband, Peter, of Norton; five grandchildren, Beth DiCicco and her husband, Patrick, Daniel Demers, Laura Demers, Connor Brooksbank, and Dana Brooksbank, and three great grand-children, Luke DiCicco, Jack DiCicco, and Remi DiCicco.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, John, and Thomas, and by two sisters, Helen Phelan and Dorothy Walker.

The family would like express their gratitude to the staff of Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center for the compassionate care given to Mr. Brooksbank and their kindness to the family.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Benjamin Charles Brooksbank will be Saturday, May 18, at 8:45 a.m. from the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dalton Fire and Ambulance or to St. Agnes Church, both in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
