Bill Mendonsa

1925 - 2014 PITTSFIELD Bill Mendonsa, 89, passed away the morning of Aug. 24, 2014. He was born in Pittsfield, on Aug. 18, 1925 to Americo and Virginia Mendonsa. Bill was married to Theresa Casey (deceased) and they had four children; William Jr., Richard, Christine (deceased), and Debra. Bill moved to Phoenix, Ariz. in 1987 to marry Verna "Jean" O'Connor. Bill Mendonsa was a proud veteran of World War II, and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was wounded in Saint-Lo, France in July 1944. Upon his return to civilian life, Bill and a partner ran a successful auto parts supply in Pittsfield for 30 years. Bill leaves behind his loving wife Jean, his three children, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves Jean's children Rick, Colleen, Kevin and Michael, and through them, eight grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was also close to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an older brother, Albert. The family would like to thank , and special thanks to the Arizona State Veterans Home for their caring help and support of the family.
