My grandmother lived in State Line (a small section of West Stockbridge). My family would visit almost weekly, and on many occasions Brucey would ride up on his bicycle and say Hi !! It was amazing that a blind kid could make his way around this small neighborhood on a bicycle ,no less.
He was friends with my grandmother Margaret as well as Chancey Smith, the Hagens, Blanche Corsier (with a pony in the house), Callahans post office/general Store and Mr.Gilson.
It was just by chance that my brother noticed this obit. and called my with sadness. Many great memories of State Line life in the 60's. Very much like Mayberry but smaller. Great time of Life in America.

Dear Eileen and Children,

My sincere sympathy in the loss of your husband and dad. His obituary attests to how very much he accomplished during his life.

I grew up in State Line and Bruce spent many happy times with all of us, particularly my sister and brothers.
Bruce's mom, June, and my mother, Mary Callahan, were great friends and spent hours conversing together.

I will keep Bruce and all of you in my prayers.

So sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. We all grew up in State Line. While we all knew Walter better, we remember Bruce coming home on vacations to his family. Thinking of you and sending condolences.
