C. Frank Rose, Jr.

1939 - 2014 PITTSFIELD C. Frank Rose, Jr., 74, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014. Born in 1939, in Pittsfield, the son of Chalmer and Verlie Rose, he was raised and educated in Quincy and North Adams schools, and was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School in North Adams. Mr. Rose was employed as an engineer in power plants for many years in Berkshire County, at James River Paper Company, Mass Municipal Wholesale Electric Company (MMWEC), Westfield River Paper Company, Berkshire Medical Center, General Electric Company and, finally, at The Pittsfield Generating Company since its beginning in 1990, from which he retired, after 21 years of service, in December 2011. He also worked for the past two years for Haddad Motors in Lenox. Over the years, Mr. Rose devoted many hours of his time to the Knights of Columbus, the Masons and the Shriners of Western Massachusetts. He was also a longstanding member of the Adams Turners, Inc. Besides his wife, Denise, he leaves his son, Craig Rose, and his wife, Jennifer, of Adams; two daughters, Colleen Medd of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Amy Hollywood and her husband, Michael, of Philadelphia, Pa.; one sister, Verlie Mirke of Boynton Beach, Fla., and two grandchildren, Matthew Rose of Adams and Alex Medd of New Market, Md. FUNERAL NOTICE: Frank C. Rose, Jr., 74, of Pittsfield, died Jan. 15. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be Monday, Jan. 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. A Funeral Home Service will follow at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital in Springfield, in care of the funeral home.
